"Semua Tentang Kita" - Versi Bintang Melville SHS

The Year 9's of Melville SHS have been learning bahasa Cinta and produced some excellent puisi, pantun, dan lagu. Some of our talented musisi performed their own versi of PeterPan's popular song Semua Tentang Kita for the class. This is a recording of their live performance.

Things we have done so far this year

Hai everyone so far this year we have had students from Surabaya visit us, we did lots of fun things such as the trip to perth zoo, learning a lot about Surabaya and the students learnt alot about us.

Kelas 9 Di Melville

This year since our original posts we have had students visit us from Surabaya for three weeks and we also have been creating a two page spread for our school year book and all of the pages have to be written in indonesian, It is SOOOOOOO challenging.

Jakarta is just as macet as it has always been. But with the soccer on, it's also a little bit gila!

The Jakarta Challenge

Due to DFAT's travel warnings, public schools cannot organise field trips to Indonesia. I will be visiting Jakarta for a few days in the July holidays, and the year nines will be with me... in spirit!

I asked the class to give me "challenges" to complete while in Jakarta. When (if!) I complete them, I will write a post about it, and provide photographic evidence.

Here's some of the challenges so far:

Eat a gross Indonesian delicacy (Brittney & Erin L)

Get a pic of you and a dog with a black spot on his eye (Unknown)

Take a photo with someone famous in Jakarta (Ashleigh)

Find some hair extensions or clip-ins (Jade)

Take a picture while eating a live worm, and bring me a surviiner and the picture (Dennisa)

Eat chocolate icecream (Unknown)

Take a picture of the highest skyscraper in the city (James)

Take a picture of someone with a Superman top on (Erin F)

Go bungee jumping (Zac)

Go swimming, shopping, talk to people (Chantelle)

Buy a voodoo doll (Kyle)

Menjadi pengamen (Richard)

Take a photo with children in Indonesia (Fareshta)

I'm not too sure how I'll go about finding (let alone eating!) a worm in Jakarta (which is a huge, metropolitan city!!). Or becoming a "pengamen" (I might get some strange looks!).

Please comment with some more challenges for me - I only have four days in Jakarta, but I'll try my best to complete them!

LO Penyelematan Binatang

We have been using the Learning Object "Penyelematan Binatang" in Indonesian. What do we think about it?

Penyelamatan Binatang

Hari ini, kami mulai menulis artikel tentang orang hutan. Kami harus selesaikan artikel ini dalam waktu satu jam. Kami mengunakan program komputer spesial yang dibuat oleh DET Tasmania.

Interesting information we found out:

Orang hutans are becoming extinct because of transmigration – people are moving to Kalimantan from Java and cutting down trees to make room.

There’s businessmen in Kalimantan who sometimes engage in illegal activity such as logging.

There are eco-tourism activities in Sumatra. They raise money for orang hutans who need help and teach them how to survive in the wild.
